Carnelian is a reddish-brown and orange variety of chalcedony, which is also a type of microcrystalline quartz. Historically, this mineral has been prized for its beautiful color as evidenced by ancient beads that date back to the Neolithic Age. In addition, this mineral was highly valued during the height of the Roman and Greek empires. This particular crushed carnelian is from Botswana and has a beautiful and consistent orange color.

Our powdered material consists of mostly silt and clay sized particles. Our powders do have a slight grit to them. Please see the corresponding sediment size chart.
