As part of the mollusk family, abalone has a thick inner layer of natural nacre (mother of pearl), which in many species is highly colorful and iridescent. This unique iridescence makes abalone an attractive material and has been used for thousands of years in many cultures from all over the world. This particular crushed abalone was harvested from the waters of Mexico.

Our coarse material is considered to be pea-sized gravel, ranging between 4 millimeters to 2 millimeters. Please see the corresponding sediment size chart.
