Tourmaline represents a large group of related mineral species that exhibit many unusual optical and physical properties. Chemically more complex than most minerals, tourmaline exhibits a substantial range of colors and varieties. This particular black tourmaline is from Brazil and has a nice shiny appearance even when crushed. Tourmaline is also one of the official birthstones for October.

Our coarse material is considered to be pea-sized gravel, ranging between 4 millimeters to 2 millimeters. Please see the corresponding sediment size chart.
