  • Details
Yellow jasper is an opaque mineral with a beautiful rich and vibrant yellow-beige hue. This crushed yellow jasper is from South Africa, which is well known for some of the largest jasper deposits in the world. Jasper is a form of micro-crystalline quartz, giving it a Mohs hardness of approximately 6.5 to 7 - pretty hard material! This mineral was highly valued in ancient civilizations, such as Greece, and was used in many decorative stone carvings.

    Material Size:
Fine - material is considered to be very fine to powder (silt size).

Stone authenticity is extremely important to all artisans; therefore, we validate the source of all our minerals before they are crushed! All of our minerals are handpicked by me (Missy) at some of the largest mineral shows in the United States.

Please see product images for color, approximate size, and quality. Pictures are taken in full sun - material is dry.

What is the difference between mineral chips and crushed minerals?

Mineral chips are usually tumbled to slightly tumbled pieces that can range in size and shape. Most shops buy mineral chips from a wholesaler (usually China) and then resell them on ETSY or elsewhere. They are rarely curated or tumbled by the actual seller.

Crushed minerals are very different! They are not mass produced or offered at wholesale. Usually, the seller (myself) hand picks the material to be crushed; therefore, they can control the quality of the end-product. I hand pick each piece that is crushed and I have invested a lot of time and labor, along with very robust equipment to produce a unique product. This process allows me to offer consistency throughout my shop since I am the one making my product.
