  • Details
Blue sapphire is actually a mineral called corundum, which is one of the hardest minerals besides diamond (Mohs hardness of 9). Corundum comes in a variety of colors, but the most well known types of corundum are sapphire and ruby. Blue sapphires are a rare gemstone, even rarer than diamonds, which is why they are so valuable!

Sapphire is considered to be a precious stone (the other precious stones are diamond, ruby, and emerald). This particular batch of crushed sapphire is from Sri Lanka and is very high quality (Grade A). Grade A sapphires are generally opaque - just one step below gem-quality sapphires that have good clarity. Sapphire is the official birthstone for September.

    Material Size:
Medium - material is considered to be medium to fine (sand), ranging between 2 millimeters to 0.25 millimeters.

Stone authenticity is extremely important to all artisans; therefore, we validate the source of all our minerals before they are crushed. All of our minerals are handpicked by me (Missy) at some of the largest mineral shows in the United States.

Please see product images for color, approximate size, and quality. Stone is wet in the 1st photo. Stone is dry in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th photos. Measurements are using the metric system (millimeters).

    Frequently Asked Questions

My tracking says delivered, but I did not receive my order?

Makers Minerals ships all orders with a tracking, including to locations outside of the United States. Our customers can follow their order using the tracking number that we always provide or through the Etsy app. Please contact your postal provider if you did not receive your package, especially if your tracking says "delivered". If you reside in the United States, we are happy to help you locate your package by calling your local USPS and getting GPS coordinates for your package and/or submitting a claim stating that your package might have been misplaced or stolen. Makers Minerals is not responsible for packages that were marked as "Delivered" by your postal provider.

What is the difference between mineral chips and crushed minerals?

Mineral chips are usually tumbled to slightly tumbled pieces that can range in size and shape. Most shops buy mineral chips from a wholesaler (usually China) and then resell them on ETSY or elsewhere. They are rarely curated or tumbled by the actual seller.

Crushed minerals are very different! They are not mass produced or offered at wholesale. Usually, the seller (myself) hand picks the material to be crushed; therefore, they can control the quality of the end-product.

I want to find more reasons to buy from this shop 😅 I'm over the moon with everything I purchased, including these sapphires. Very rich in color, consistent crush, and just lovely.
